For the Love of Drive-Thru Tex-Mex

OMGoodness. Big news in today's online version of the Austin Business Journal - Taco Bueno, which I frequented often during my days living in the Dallas metroplex is about to start opening locations in Central Texas.

EatDrink LLC will open the first Taco Bueno location in Central Texas on the southeast corner of Wonder World Drive and I-35 in San Marcos later this year. The first Austin store, at the northeast corner of MoPac and Slaughter Lane, is slated to open in the first quarter of 2007. Two locations are currently planned in Round Rock and another in Cedar Park. The company expects to open up to 14 per location.

My fave is the Mexi-Dip and Chips which comes with a Muchaco (Soft pita filled with ground beef, refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes and cheddar cheese. Yum!

Haven't been to a Taco Bueno in years -- but like you I was a frequent customer when I lived in DFW area. I'm one of those who can't get enough Tex-Mex, so this can only be good news. :)

Why are we in South Austin subject to this? Read the posts of Taco Journalist.

Taco Bueno is kaka. With all of the great local Austin food, I won't eat there.

I'll see you at Maudies for good South Texas Tex-Mex. And to those folks who want a In and Out Burger I have only one word: What-A-Burger.

Nice web site Texas Gal. Enjoy your home.

Maybe I read the ABJ piece wrong, but the one in San Marcos is already open, just south of the outlets.

Our options further south (I live in New Braunfels) are limited. If I were living in Austin, I'd be at Curra's and El Chilito all the time.

I'll look forward to trying Taco Bueno.

But anyone who thinks Whataburger compares to In N Out is loco en la cabeza.
